We Love Bees!!??

Today’s storytime is to help us learn to love and appreciate bees instead of being so afraid of them.

We read:

The Honeybee by Kirsten Hall

and

Bee & Me by Alison Jay

I really love this video version of Bee & Me because it shows you a close up of each beautiful illustration.

Activity Ideas

Choose an activity based on the materials you are lucky enough to have at home!

Here is another adorable bee idea from Easy Peasy and Fun.

Mother’s Day Stories

Today we read;

Mommy’s Khimar by Jamilah Tompkins-Bigelow, illustrations by Ebony Glenn

and

Pirate Mom by Deborah Underwood, illustrated by Stephen Gilpin

Activity Ideas

A simple and colourful flower card

I love this Mother’s Day Card craft!  You just need lots of different coloured construction paper, glue, and some good kid scissors!  If you need help, get your Dad or an older sibling to help you if you need help so that Mom doesn’t find out!

Bubble Art

This project is a little more complicated but more fun since you get to play with BUBBLES!!  Visit this link to get the full instructions. https://www.apieceofrainbow.com/bubble-paint-flower-hydrangeas/

OJCS Storytime – The Week of March 30th

Marcel The Shell – The Most Surprised I’ve Ever Been

by Jenny Slate and Dean Fleisher-Camp

This week’s activity is to make your own Marcel!!

You will need…

  • A shell or a rock
  • Googly eyes (or make your own out of paper and marker)
  • Small decorations for your shell or rock that you make or find around the house (mini clothes, mini shoes)
  • Any kind of bread for a bed!
  • Glue (hot glue works best but only under supervision!)

Glue the googly eyes onto your shell or rock and decorate in any way you can imagine.  Feel free to share pics with me at b.ruel@theojcs.ca and I can post them up!

If you want more Marcel, here are some hilarious and adorable videos…

Sophia and Ayla’s shells

Sophia’s shell… it looks like a Marcy instead of a Marcel! So cute!
